 Annual Shoebox Campaign for the Mission to Seafarers 2019      We are asked to fill a shoebox with articles listed below. These boxes are distributed to foreign sailors who come to our Province’s Halifax Port during December. Many of these men and women come from warm countries into our cold climate ill prepared and too lightly clothed. The Mission people board these ships with security permission to offer a little kindness at this time of year. The gifts are always so welcomed and appreciated, not only for the gift but for the kindness from strangers it represents. 1800 to 2000 boxes are gathered from all over the Diocese. We as a parish have participated in this project for many years and hope to continue. As an alternative, you may join a friend to fill a box or gather some of the items in a bag which can be added to boxes at the Mission.

 Suggested items will be listed on the boxes. 

                                                          

Volunteers needed to visit Syrian family (2 parents and three older children). The Alouch family is lonely and needs visitors.   They learn English at a school in Lunenburg but need the opportunity to simply chat.   Some Starfish people are trying to help but they are also working with the other two families and are stretched thin.  If you can spare a couple of hours a week, please call Dawn902.275.5005.  Expect to be fed yummy Syrian treats!

Friends of the Bishop’s Dinner (South Shore) come out and enjoy an evening of fellowship with Archbishop Ron Cutler and help support the Bishop’s discretionary fund. Rev. Canon Dr. Jody Clarke, Associate Professor, Pastoral Theology, Atlantic School of Theology, will be speaking about the financial issues AST students face and how the fund can assist students. Holy Trinity Anglican Church.  78 Alexandra Ave, Bridgewater. Tuesday, Nov 5^th 6pm.
