Bridgewater and/or Lunenburg,
and you will wish to be
visited by the Rector at some point during your stay,
please make a point of
identifying yourself as an Anglican
to either the admitting
or nursing staff.
As well, specifically ask to be added to the list of
Anglican patients.
Patients are not always

PLUM PUDDINGS
Many
will already be aware that Plum Puddings
will
not be produced at St. Stephen’s this fall.
The
decision came after discussions regarding a variety of challenges
such as no one stepping forward to manage
the sales component,
not
enough small tins to be able to cook more than 200 puddings
and a
significant increase in the cost of ingredients.
Although we will not make plum puddings this fall,
we’d
like to consider doing them in the fall of 2017.
With
that in mind, we ask parishioners to help throughout the year
by
continuing to save 14 oz/398 ml. tins. Those are the small ones that contain
vegetables, fruit, baked beans, tomato
sauce, cranberry sauce, etc.
Remove
the lids and the paper wrappers, clean the tins
and
leave them in the church or Parish Centre.
We’ll
save them until we have enough.
Thank
you for your continued support of this project.
MISSION TO SEAFARERS
ANNUAL SHOEBOX CAMPAIGN
When ships visit the Port of Halifax during the month of
December
The Mission ensures each and every seafarer receives a
shoebox gift.
For some seafarers this is their only gift.
This campaign continues until all the shoeboxes are given
out.
In 2015, staff and volunteers who visit the ships gave
out 1600 shoebox gifts.
Our Parish sent around 35
shoeboxes to the campaign.
What a truly heartwarming experience this is for
all!
Each and every box is checked before being lovingly gift
wrapped
by a great team at the Mission.
The Mission to Seafarers is very grateful to the many
individuals and churches
that provide the items to enable this heartwarming
program to continue.
Their community partner in this endeavour, the Maritime
Museum of the Atlantic
continues to be instrumental in promoting this annual
campaign.
Sincere thanks are sent to everyone who supports this
campaign.
Shoeboxes include:
HAT, SCARF, GLOVERS OR MITTS, SOCKS,
WRAPPED HARD CANDY (NO CHOCOLATE),
SOAP, TOOTHPASTE, TOOTHBRUSH, SHAMPOO,
SHAVING FOAM, RAZORS, DEODORANT AND LYPSYL,
PLAYING CARDS, MEMENTO OF NOVA SCOTIA,
PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND OR CANADA
There should not be
any liquor, sharp objects, or flammables enclosed.
