SAVING THE ORGAN
A mini-conference on the role and value of the organ
in the 21st Century will take place at First Baptist Church,
1300 Oxford Street in Halifax on
Friday evening May 12  from 7:00 to 9:30 pm 
and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.  
The keynote speaker is Dr Robert Summerby-Murray,
President of St Mary's University and an organist.  
Other speakers include James Bailey, Past President of the RCCO,
and an architect and organist;
Andrew Forrest, Artistic Director of Letourneau;
and James Chubb, organ consultant and organist.  
With the decline in both the use of the organ and church attendance,
it is timely to bring together musicians, builders, technicians,
composers, teachers, clergy, and anyone with an interest in
or financial responsibility for the organ
to discuss the issues and to begin to establish
a new framework for success in the future.

The registration fee is $35 and includes all workshops,
lunch on Saturday, and handouts.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT SHOREHAM VILLAGE
for drumming, art therapy, bowling and curling,
Red Hatters, bus drives, bingo, socials, meal groups,
music on the wings and friendly visits.

MOTHER’S DAY
(Food Bank Sunday) 
on Sunday, 14 May the Men’s Choir
will join us for Mother’s Day. 
We look forward to this every year. 
To make the event even more special,
please bring a donation of food
for the Food Bank
(canned fruit and breakfast cereal would be greatly appreciated).

Chester Municipal Canadian Cancer Society’s
Annual Relay for Life will take place
on Friday, 16 June from 7:00 pm to 1:00 am
at Chester Area Middle School. 
Register now to enter a team
(Registration is $15.00 per team member). 
Be a volunteer, or buy a luminary ($5.00)
in honour or in memory of a loved one. 
All cancer survivors who would like
to attend are invited to register.
