SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The Candlemas Candle Lighting Memorial Service has been moved to

Wednesday, 3 February at 7:00 pm.

This service commemorates the Presentation of Christ in the Temple (40 days after his

birth) and the recognition of the child by the aged Simeon and Anna

as God’s salvation for all people – the Light of the world.  Candles will be lit for those

who have been buried from this Parish, and for any others whose

loved ones wish to remember them.  It is also a time at which the candle we use in church

and any candles you may wish to bring from home will be

blessed.  The Gospel reading for the service is the origin of the Nunc Dimittis,  much-

loved canticle from the Book of Common Prayer Evening Prayer

service.

If you are unable to attend but would like a candle lighted in the name of a loved one, please submit the name to the Parish Office by Jan. 31.  There will be a free will offering to help with the cost of the candles.

PRAYER LIST
Please remember that we can only name a person for whom we are praying if that person has given explicit permission for that to be done.  While some people wish to be named, others are not ready or willing to be identified to the public as needing prayers.  Upsetting someone who is ill is not health-giving.  Remember, God knows us all by name; God does not need us to identify those for whom we are praying by name.  If a person has given permission to be named publicly, check the “Permission” line on the prayer list.

PARISH TRANSITION PRAYER
O Faithful God, as your people, we cherish our memories and our history as a sacred gift. We ask you to guide us in our time of transition. Bless and
direct the parochial committee as it carries out the work of finding a new rector, that through your Holy Spirit they may make wise decisions on behalf of
the parish. Lead all parishioners in Your wisdom, that we might be receptive to change and growth. Give us Your grace to redirect our hearts that we
may be willing to offer ourselves in joyful service. Do not allow fear, ignorance or pride to limit the work of your Spirit, nor allow tradition to prevent
the creativity within us from bearing fruit. Open our hearts to the call of the Gospel. Give us courage and renewed hope, that we may meet the challenge
of being the church of our time. We ask this in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
